In order to effectively manage the circumferential cracking threat, the ability to quantify the bending strains present on a pipeline is extremely valuable. This is typically done with an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) attached to an Inline Inspection (ILI) tool. The output of these ILI IMU tools is typically referred to as raw IMU data. This raw IMU data can be consumed by visual analytics software and integrated with other integrity data sets in order to quantify bending strain magnitudes and driving mechanisms.
As raw IMU data typically consists of distance, horizontal strain, vertical strain,...
As raw IMU data typically consists of distance, horizontal strain, vertical strain, total strain, elevation, latitude, longitude, azimuth, and pitch measurements recorded at 4 in (10 cm) spacing, this can result in large data files for most pipelines.
This zipped package contains three (3) deliverables:
1. PR676-233801-S06 IMU Strain Data Screening Utility Tool. The desktop software is intended to parse the raw IMU data into smaller study area packages so they can be ingested into visual analytics software more easily.
2. PR676-233801-M06 IMU Strain Data Screening Utility Manual. This reference document is intended to act as the user manual for the above software, covering the following topics:
- Use of the software to load, align, and export the data; - Data entry into the input template; - Illustrated example walk-throughs of the software; and - Description of the implemented methodologies within the software
3. PR676-233801-E06 Strain Data Screening Utility Test Report. This reference document describes the testing program implemented to verify the results of the above software. Three fully worked benchmark test cases including expected inputs and outputs are also provided for verification.
