Non-destructive material verification for yield strength and toughness using in-ditch technologies and tools has been a growing interest to the pipeline industry in the continuous efforts to further improve pipeline safety and efficiency.

This PRCI project evaluated the use the Hardness, Strength, and Ductility (HSD) Tester to measure the equivalent of the API 5L yield strength in the field by only testing the exterior surface of pipe joints without significant material removal. The procedure explicitly accounts for through thickness variations.

Expected Benefits/Learning Outcomes:

  • The fundamentals of the HSD test equipment and approach
  • The practical application and benefits of HSD technology

Who Should Attend?

  • Pipeline operators
  • Consulting integrity engineers, specialists, and technicians
  • Commercial vendors and servcie providers that offer field NDE services
  • PLEASE FEEL FREE TO FORWARD TO OTHERS IN YOUR COMPANY THAT MAY BE INTERESTED!
