PRCI has initiated preparations for the 7th Annual PRCI Research Exchange Meeting, which will be held February 5-7, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. The Research Exchange Meeting is scheduled each year to provide PRCI member companies, our key research partners, and external stakeholders with a report on the important research results and outcomes for completed and select ongoing research projects and programs in the last year. The meeting will include several days of technical sessions where the results of PRCI-funded R&D projects and programs are presented to the attendees. Key technical programs addressed at the 2013 Research Exchange Meeting will include Management of Stress Corrosion Cracking, Coatings and Cathodic Protection, Mechanical Damage Inspection and Assessment, In-Line Inspection, NDE Technology, Leak Detection, Damage Prevention, Structural Integrity Assessment Methods, and Vintage Pipelines.
Consistent with the prior annual meetings, the 2013 Research Exchange Meeting will include several separate workshop sessions that are schedule immediately before and after the three-day technical meeting. The workshops provide the forum for PRCI member companies to focus on specific topics of high interest in the pipeline industry or emerging topic areas that require a detailed analysis and evaluation to determine the role of research in addressing the challenges identified. The workshops help in determining what measures PRCI should take to address these emerging matters through expansion of existing programs or development of new programs for the emerging issues. Workshops are currently planned for Coatings – Past, Present, and Future (with support from EPRI) andTechnology Innovation for Detecting Small Leaks from Pipelines in Liquids Service.
The final agenda for the 2013 Research Exchange Meeting is under development and members are encouraged to provide suggestions and offer topics to be covered. We also welcome (and encourage) volunteers to lead technical sessions (generally 3 to 4 hours) or to present the results of any research completed through your company’s internal R&D programs.
