The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) announced its next joint government-industry forum on pipeline Research and Development (R&D), which is scheduled for June 24 & 25, 2009, in Washington DC. As with the previous R&D Forums, the meeting is being scheduled to discuss the technical gaps & challenges for future R&D and identify both short and long term research objectives for liquid/gas and transmission and gas distribution pipelines. PHMSA will use the R&D Forum outcomes as the basis for developing the Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for pipeline related R&D projects.
PRCI is participating on the Forum Steering Committee and expects to play a key role in providing input and developing material for the technical discussion and panels. The meeting will include a number of separate Technical Tracks/Sessions that address specific topical areas of research relevant to the pipeline transmission and distribution industries. We expect several of our member company representatives to serve as Session Chair or Co-Chair for the Technical Tracks. Formal notification and a detailed agenda has been posted on PHMSA’s web page at: http://primis.phmsa.dot.gov/meetings/MtgHome.mtg?mtg=59.
This event is organized through a strong research enterprise between the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, other State and Federal agencies and with North American natural gas and hazardous liquid pipeline operators. The forum will bring government and industry pipeline stakeholders together for the following purpose(s):
