Common Ground Alliance Research & Development Committee Meeting PRCI was invited to provide the CGA R&D Committee with an overview of the current and recently completed research projects that address the issues related to pipeline Damage Prevention and Right of Way (ROW) surveillance and monitoring. The CGA R&D Committee meeting was scheduled in conjunction with the CGA Excavation Safety Conference and Expo, February 17-19, 2009, in Orlando, Florida. PRCI's presentation was complementary to information presented by GTI/OTD, and the Virginia Utility Protection Services on their efforts to advance Damage Prevention technologies and improving the ability to protect pipeline infrastructure. One of the primary focuses of PRCI's presentation was the ROW Automated Monitoring, or RAM, Program being implemented by PRCI in conjunction with our research partners NASA and PHMSA. Several members of the PRCI Core Team for the RAM Program and PHMSA were present for the presentation. The presentation is will be made available in its entirety on the CGA R&D web page.
NACE CORROSION 2009 The annual NACE CORROSION conference is one of the premier events for corrosion professionals. The 2009 Conference was held March 22-26, 2009, in Atlanta, GA, and was attended by over 4,500 people including a substantial number of PRCI member company representatives, PRCI staff, and a number of our related research contractors. There were several technical presentations made on the results of PRCI research projects and activities in several of the Technical Symposia, including Advantica's continuing work on the consolidated program to assess the structural significance of corrosion on pipeline integrity and remaining life assessments, several presentations related to PRCI research on stress corrosion cracking (SCC), and a summary of PRCI research on Cathodic Protection that was presented to the TG 360 Technical Committee meeting to discuss the proposed revisions to NACE SP0169 (copy included below). PRCI also participated in the NACE Pipeline Advisory Council Meeting and the Pipeline Standards Developing Organizations Coordinating Council (PSDOCC), both of which were scheduled in conjunction with the CORROSION 2009 Conference.

Banff Pipeline Workshop The 10th Banff Pipeline Workshop was held April 6-9, 2009, in Banff, Alberta. This workshop is the 10th in the series, and provides an open and interactive forum for pipeline operators to discuss relevant issues pertaining to managing pipeline integrity and safety. In addition, one of the objectives of the workshop is to identify new areas and initiatives for pipeline research and development. The workshop was well attended by PRCI members, including several member company representatives that were co-chairs of several of the Working Groups, which addressed specific topics related to pipeline operations and integrity. A presentation summarizing PRCI's SCC research programs was included in Working Group 5. A copy of the summary presentation is provided below.
