On January 27-29, 2009 the PRCI Compressor and Pump Station Technical Committee met in San Diego, CA, hosted by Solar Turbines. The meeting provided technical updates on all of the Committee's ongoing projects and the status of the newly-approved 2009 projects. The liquids pipeline CAPSTC members held a successful breakout session led by Ralph Dickau of Enbridge Pipelines, and focused on reviewing the ongoing pump station projects and discussing the liquid pump program roadmaps. Meanwhile, gas compressor station operators conducted a brainstorming session to germinate a number of new project concepts for "life after ERLE," or issues the compressor engine program should address after the current Emissions Control for Legacy Engines (ERLE) is completed. That was followed by a two-day workshop in Oakland where these items were examined further with an aim towards 2010 ballot development. The Measurement Technical Committee meeting was held on April 6-8, 2009 in New Orleans, LA. The meeting featured a full day Measurement R&D workshop where measurement vendors presented to the committee their perspectives on current industry issues and ideas for future research. About a half-dozen final project presentations were given by contractors, and the accompanying final reports should be issued in the next few months. The Underground Storage Technical Committee will meet on April 30, 2009 in Morgantown, WV, in coordination with the DOE Gas Storage Technology Consortium which meets the prior day. This location will facilitate participation by DOE representatives as the group examines the nature of the mutual interests that may exist between DOE programs on carbon sequestration and traditional hydrocarbon underground storage.
