Author:
PRCI
PRCI recently played a leading role at the 10th biennial
International Pipeline Conference
(IPC 2014), which was held in Calgary last month. PRCI members and staff joined over 1,600 pipeline industry professionals who gathered for five days of technical presentations, panels, tutorials, and education sessions to learn about the latest technology developments for the safest and most efficient transportation of energy.
PRCI had remarkable presence at the conference with dozens of technical papers published for IPC 2014 that were based on results derived from PRCI-funded research and many others were authored by representatives of our member companies. Additionally, the content of a number of the tutorial sessions included substantial references to PRCI research findings and reports.
IPC held a poster session including over 50 technical papers that were published as part of the conference proceedings. PRCI was proud to sponsor this session which enhanced the experience for the conference attendees by providing direct access to the authors. Attendees were given the opportunity to vote for the best poster and PRCI recognized the following top three winners with cash prizes and an opportunity to present their posters at our upcoming annual
Research Exchange Meeting
in February 2015 in Houston.
1st Place: E. Perez, L. Thomson, Enbridge Pipelines Inc.
Transient Modeling of Surge Pressures Within Injection Terminal Facilities
2nd Place: V. Carlos Teixeira da Costa, E. L. de Paula, B. M. Gonçalves, D. S. Lima, Petrobras Transporte S.A.
Risk Assessment Procedures and Prioritization of Mitigation Actions in Pipeline Crossings
3rd Place: A. Whiting, C-FER Technologies; D. McColl, CORE Linepipe
Qualification Testing of Mechanical Pipe Joining Method
The Research Exchange Meeting is hosted by PRCI each year to provide member companies, our key research partners, and industry stakeholders with the opportunity to learn about the important research results and outcomes from key projects and programs focused on improving pipeline safety and integrity.
Continuing to educate and engage the next generation of pipeline industry professionals is also of great importance to PRCI. PRCI had the opportunity to recognize members of the
Young Pipeliners Association of Canada
(YPAC) whose papers were accepted to IPC 2014. PRCI was honored to present the second place winners, Riski H. Adianto & Maher A. Nessim of C-FER Technologies for their paper
“Limit State Design for Onshore Pipelines – Designing For Hydrostatic Test Pressure & Restrained Thermal Expansion,”
with complimentary attendance, travel and accommodations to participate in our upcoming annual Research Exchange Meeting. In addition to participating in this unique occasion to learn some of the latest developments in pipeline research, the winner will also have opportunities for visits with our local member operating companies and engage with experienced industry professionals.
