PRCI Holds Annual Research Exchange Meeting for Energy Pipeline Research

Monday, August 15, 2016

Author: PRCI

Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) hosted its eighth annual Research Exchange Meeting in February 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia.This year’s meeting was the most highly attended Research Exchange with over 300 attendees from around the world including PRCI member company representatives, key researchers, pipeline safety regulators, and stakeholders in the pipeline industry.
Results and outcomes from over 40 completed and select ongoing PRCI research projects that focused on improving pipeline safety and integrity were reviewed within three technical tracks:

  • Corrosion, led by Committee Chair Laurie Perry of Southern California Gas;
  • Design, Materials and Construction, led by Committee Chair David Horsley of BP; and,
  • Operations and Integrity, led by Committee Chair, Mures Zaréa of GDF Suez.

Further enhancing the program, PRCI organized a panel and poster session that highlighted R&D programs being conducted at Georgia Tech that are linked to pipeline integrity management. The session included a series of presentations by three members of Georgia Tech faculty that showcased some of the R&D programs being implemented at the university that have relevance to the pipeline industry. The session capitalized on the proximity and access to Georgia Tech and provided an opportunity for PRCI membership to better understand the R&D capabilities and review some of the current programs being performed at Georgia Tech, which has previously implemented R&D projects on behalf of PRCI and its member companies.

PRCI would like to thank this year’s sponsors: Energy Transfer, Exxon Mobil Pipeline Company, GE PII Pipeline Solutions, Phillips 66, and Plains All American Pipeline, L.P..
