PRCI will be sponsoring a workshop at the Marriott Westchase in Houston, TX on September 2, 2010, to provide a forum for industry stakeholders to identify the needs and requirements for a comprehensive approach to Subsea Pipeline Integrity Management (SPIM). PRCI has previously approved a research project (PRCI Project SPIM 1-1: Development of a Subsea Pipeline Integrity Best Management Practices) to develop industry Best Management Practices to assist pipeline operators, oil and gas producers, and pipeline inspection and service companies with integrity management of subsea pipelines. The workshop will serve as the formal initiation of that project. PRCI will use the input provided by the workshop participants to establish the framework upon which the comprehensive program will be developed, as well as the more detailed elements to be addressed in the broader program structure. The information gathered during the workshop will lead to the development of a comprehensive technical approach to SPIM that can be used as a basis for standards development, through ASME, API, NACE, and others with application globally, regardless of geographic operational considerations.
