PRCI Chairs PipeTech World Summit Madrid 2010 PRCI President, George W. Tenley, Jr., served as Chair of this international conference and exhibition held in June Madrid, Spain. The focus of the Summit, which drew more than 150 representatives of the pipeline and related industries, was on pipeline integrity from construction through all phases of operation, and drew participation from throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia. PRCI also had a booth in the exhibition, and it was manned by Joe Summa, president of PRCI’s strategic partner, Technical Toolboxes. Joe reported that the booth generated a great deal of interest among Summit attendees affording opportunities for follow-up regarding potential memberships in PRCI. Anyone interested in obtaining the papers from the Summit should contact PRCI. API 2010 Annual Pipeline Conference PRCI staff, member company representatives, and our research partners provided support for several of the technical sessions and panel discussions at the API 2010 Pipeline Conference and Cybernetics Symposium, held April 20-22, 2010 in New Orleans, LA. The conference is API's annual meeting to address issues and challenges specific to the pipeline industry and covers multiple topical areas of relevance to the petroleum industry. PRCI was asked to participate on several of the session panels as the topic areas and technical issues covered in the sessions are consistent with our research programs, several of which are driven by the petroleum pipeline industry. Presentations were made in support of the sessions addressing Facility Integrity, Damage Prevention, and Research and Development. The conference reaffirmed the importance of the research being conducted in support of the petroleum pipeline industry and identified several key areas of current focus and future needs. Several of these items were included as research projects to be included on the 2011 annual ballot. Please direct questions regarding the API conference to Peter Lidiak or Karen Simon at API, or Mark Piazza at PRCI. NACE Corrosion Technology Week Meeting NACE is sponsoring its annual Corrosion Technology Week (CTW) Conference from September 19-23, 2010, in Orlando Florida. The CTW conference is the annual NACE meeting where the Technical Committees meet to develop and revise the standards and reports that corrosion engineers and professionals from the pipeline industry and other industry sectors rely on when seeking solutions to their corrosion problems. It is expected that more than 100 of NACE's committees will meet during the conference. A number of the meetings scheduled for the conference are directly related to PRCI research projects and/or research program focus areas. Please contact Mark Piazza, Program Manager with PRCI, or Cliff Johnson, Director of Public Affairs for NACE, with any specific questions.
