Orifice Plate Tolerances on Measurement Accuracy
Work was recently completed on a preliminary effort to assess the effect of the tolerances in orifice plate dimensions on meter uncertainty. The research completed to date shows that some plates that are within the tolerances of AGA 3 have much higher uncertainty than others. The ongoing research will evaluate and try and pinpoint which specific dimensions are most critical for reducing uncertainty. It is expected that the results of this research will be incorporated as future revisions to the AGA 3 standard.
