PRCI WEBINAR: Practical Effects of Rough Walled Pipe in Gas Metering Applications

Thu, November 04, 2021

Thursday, November 4, 2021 | 11:30 AM EDT

Join the PRCI Measurement Technical Committee as they present research data assessing the influence of upstream pipe roughness and flow protrusions.

Presenter:  Adam Hawley, Southwest Research Institute
Host:  Cary Carter, Boardwalk Pipelines
Moderator:  Angie Mallahan, PRCI

Learning Outcomes/Benefits from Attending this Webinar:

The influence of the roughness of upstream piping on the performance of multipath ultrasonic flow meters will be discussed.
Data from the PRCI-funded projects will be presented for multiple ultrasonic flow meter manufacturers for both 8-inch and 16-inch
diameter flow meters and meter runs.
For the 16-inch diameter data, the influence of a flow conditioner in the meter run was also explored and will be presented.
Conclusions and recommendations will be presented on the importance of flow calibrating an ultrasonic meter with the same meter tubes
and flow conditioner that will be used in the field installation.
