PRCI has been invited to present at a one-day summit in conjunction with the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Annual Conference and Expo, Xponential 2016, May 2-5, 2016. This one-day summit will provide a look at the need and opportunity for the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) industry to serve energy producers and energy infrastructure entities with aerial imagery, data and/or better options to perform dull, dangerous, dirty or difficult services. The Summit will bring together commercial UAS service providers and experts well-versed in serving energy-related clients, along with end-users, energy managers or infrastructure entities already using or looking to add UAS to operations. PRCI will have the opportunity to share several initiatives for UAS platform research that are ongoing in 2016 as part of the work associated with the Right-of-Way (ROW) Automated Monitoring Program (RAM). These UAS projects include work to provide a safe means of UAS monitoring along the pipeline right of way for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS). The BVLOS work was associated with the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership (MAAPs) at Virginia Tech and tested new unmanned aircraft sensor technology in 2015 under the approved for a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certificate of Authority (COA). Additionally, PRCI will be highlighting the ongoing development and validation work with NASA Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) on a methane leak detection system for various UAS platforms.
