April 19, 2016 —

Progressive results and on-going leading-edge research from the PRCI Leak Detection Program were presented at the American Petroleum Institute (API) Conference and Cybernetics Symposium April 5th through 7th in Carlsbad, California. This was an opportunity to inform PRCI member and non-member representatives that do not typically participate in PRCI research or technical committees. Several key results from the PL-1 Continuous Leak Detection Program from the 2015 research portfolio that were highlighted, and overviews of ongoing work were presented. These include:

  • PL-1-2: A New Look at Pipeline Variable Uncertainties and Their Effects on Leak Detection Sensitivity – API 1149 Updated Publication
  • PL-1G: Cable-Based Leak Detection Retrofit Study
  • PL-1H: Polymer Absorption Sensor (PAS) Cable Leak Detection System Phase 1 - Small Scale Feasibility Study
  • PL-1K: Numerical Modelling and Lab Simulation of Subsurface Fluid Migration

Final results for these projects are available through PRIME or the PRCI Online Store. The PL-1-2 Software Tool and the Final Report for PL-1K are planned for completion in 2016. PRCI members can find additional information about any of the ongoing work on the corresponding project page in PRIME. For questions, please contact Carrie Greaney, Program Manager.
