PR-335-193805-R01 Recommended Practice for the Inspection of Stress Corrosion Cracking PR-335-193805-R01 Recommended Practice for the Inspection of Stress Corrosion Cracking Prior PRCI projects (NDE-2-2g, NDE-4-6, IM-3C) identified key insights into the capabilities and limitations as well as identified standard practices to improve the reliability and repeatability of NDE for assessing SCC. PRCI commissioned research project NDE 4-6a to further investigate and document these recommended practices when using NDE to inspect for the threat of SCC. This report outlines these practices when applying NDE to characterize SCC. 1

PR-335-173844-R01 NDE Crack Depth Sizing Performance Validation for Multiple UT Techniques PR-335-173844-R01 NDE Crack Depth Sizing Performance Validation for Multiple UT Techniques PRCI commissioned this project (NDE-4-6) to further evaluate and accurately assess the current state (as of 2019) of NDE methodologies for characterizing Stress Corrosion Cracking. The NDE-4-6 project also conducted advanced Finite Element Modeling and flaw fabrication to help gain further insight on NDE performance and improve efficiency of conducting round robin evaluations. The results of the destructive testing were then used to characterize the performance of the NDE methods and technologies applied. 1
NDE-4-F ILI PULL TEST CAPABILITY NDE-4-F ILI PULL TEST CAPABILITY The new TDC location will allow the NDE-4-F ILI project to construct a new 700 foot long pull test facility. Identification of pipe for the pull tests is underway along with baseline NDE characterization.

INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY AT THE CENTER INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY AT THE CENTER In May as part of NDE 2-3 a Brazilian University under the direction of PETROBRAS participated in testing laser Shearography on the Composite Wrap Repair samples built for determining the performance of NDE techniques to assess composite wrap repairs. In February and March Subsea Integrity Group from the UK performed tests of their EMIT internal tool as part of NDE 1-4 again under the watchful eye of PETROBRAS and other PRCI members.
Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Summit Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Summit NDE Summit will bring together Manufacturers, Service Providers, and Pipeline Operators This event is open to PRCI member and non-members. Here, we expect to further increase our competencies in: how we procure NDE services, how NDT devices are manufactured to serve pipeline-specific needs, how NDT equipment is calibrated to the pipe and anomalies of interest, how we communicate between ILI vendors and NDE service providers, how we record and communicate NDE data from the ditch to the desk, and how we go about training and qualification of our service providers. Agenda topics include: Keys for successful NDE of hook cracks: PRCI Project NDE-4-12 project review Operator/Original Equipment Manufacturer collaboration for field success - eddy current Operator/Original Equipment Manufacturer collaboration for field success - phased array ultrasonics Updates on X-ray computed tomography development Human factors component to NDE Teaching, training, and certification Demonstrations of current technology The summit will be held from 8:00am to 5:00pm CT at the Technology Development Center (TDC) at 6410-J Langfield Road in Houston, Texas.

PR-186-073508-R01 Environmental and Stress Factors that Produce SCC in Existing Ethanol Facilities PR-186-073508-R01 Environmental and Stress Factors that Produce SCC in Existing Ethanol Facilities The objective of SCC 4-3 Phase 2 was determine if inhibitors are effective in preventing SCC growth under more realistic field conditions than those found in the slow strain rate (SSR) tests performed previously. E-50, prepared with a simulated FGE was consistently more potent as a cracking agent than SFGE. 4. The commercial inhibitors, in general, were less effective in E-50 than in SFGE. 6. 1

ILI Tool Calibration on In-ditch Measurement with Related Uncertainty (EC-4-2) ILI Tool Calibration on In-ditch Measurement with Related Uncertainty (EC-4-2) API 1163 – Appendix E), no explicit guidance is currently available to assist operators in accounting for in-ditch sizing error when field dig data is to be used to update the claimed measurement error. Follow-on research (EC-4-3 & EC-4-5) will focus on assessing ILI tools’ sizing tolerances, understanding the relationship between the measurement error and the resultant predicted and actual burst pressures, and developing ways to work with the error.
