The content of this report represents a multi-year assessment focused on evaluating wrinklebends and their impact on the integrity of pipeline systems across the United States. Although the exact number of wrinklebends existing in the United States is not known, a reasonable estimate is on the order of hundreds of thousands. At the present time, the youngest of these wrinklebends would be approximately 65 years old, considering that by the mid-1950s wrinklebends were generally considered an unacceptable construction practice.
