We work with other companies to ensure that gas is available where and when it's needed. All gas in the UK passes through National Grid's national transmission system on its way to consumers. In the UK, gas leaves the transmission system and enters the distribution networks at high pressure. It is then transported through a number of reducing pressure tiers until it is finally delivered to consumers. There are eight regional distribution networks, four of which are owned by Cadent. Gas is owned by your gas supplier and Cadent is responsible for this gas whilst it is being transported. Our UK distribution networks deliver gas to around 11 million consumers.
