At the PRCI Pipeline Technical Committee Meetings in October in Los Angeles, Marathon Pipe Line and TransCanada PipeLines were presented with the first of its kind awards within PRCI for providing significant contributions and support for promoting research in the pipeline industry. PRCI issued these awards to recognize Marathon Pipe Line and TransCanada PipeLines for providing data and information, pipe samples, access to operating pipelines for field data collection, and running experimental tools to help accelerate important research by PRCI which will make the operation of pipelines safer. In addition to the material contributions, Marathon Pipe Line and TransCanada PipeLines each provided a high-level of human capital by providing countless hours supporting the day-to-day work on many of PRCI’s programs. The contributions of Marathon Pipe Line were cited as being “substantially above and beyond” the expectations for PRCI member-company participation and having a major contribution to the success of many of PRCI’s research projects and programs.
Special thanks to Phil DePriest, Scott Baumgardner, Charley Jones, and Dan Seman of Marathon and to Thomas Robinson, Shahani Kariyawasam, Richard Kania, and Rick Wang of TransCanada.
