A research program has been successfully conducted to identify the factors that lead to failure in pipeline coatings. Numerous factors have been identified and are addressed in this report. Data have been organized to permit many of these specific findings to be immediately useful to industry. The five-year program was initiated with panel studies, which were instrumental in setting the direction of the major research effort. The primary objective of all laboratory studies has been to identify the factors, which lead to failure in pipeline coatings. Generic types of coatings studied in the program have included coal tars, thermoplastic tapes, and thermoset epoxies. Numerous factors have been identified and are discussed in detail in this report.
