A semi-quantitative scoring protocol was developed to identify pipeline systems with the highest relative susceptibility to coating CP shielding. The scoring protocol takes into consideration the type of coatings, surface preparation, types of soils, weather conditions and pipeline characteristics. The protocol was tested over pipeline cases provided by pipeline operators. The users are encouraged to use the scoring protocol to screen, prioritize pipeline systems susceptible to coating CP shielding, and collect critical data in order to improve the performance of the tool with the goal to minimize...
The users are encouraged to use the scoring protocol to screen, prioritize pipeline systems susceptible to coating CP shielding, and collect critical data in order to improve the performance of the tool with the goal to minimize the impact of this threat on the integrity of their pipelines. Guidelines have been provided to help the users of the protocol improve the monitoring, inspection and mitigation of external metal loss due to coating CP shielding.
