A number of quality issues with High Frequency Induction (HFI)/ERW pipe had been observed, leading to an interest by members in better understanding of the source of these concerns. This project seeks to identify both issues and known solutions for quality concerns surrounding HFI/ERW pipe, especially manufacturing weaknesses in new HFI/ERW pipe. Driven by a concern with regard to the reliability of currently supplied ERW/HFI seam welded line pipe this research sought to identify issues and ways of preventing problems from occurring during manufacture which could be incorporated in line pipe specifications.
Key Results This report compiles and documents an understanding of the process and best practice in order to minimize delivery of poor quality ERW/HFI welded pipe to the field. This document includes a review of published literature, information derived from responses to the questionnaires as well as recommendations which were determined after reviewing all the information. The report is available is available at no cost to members and has also been approved for sale to non-members.
