Join the PRCI Corrosion Technical Committee as they present Phase 2 research data related to the effectiveness of vapor corrosion inhibitors (VCIs) for tank bottom plate corrosion control.

Presenter:  Dr. Pavan Shukla, Batelle Savannah River Alliance

Host:  Ingrid Pederson, Enbridge

Moderator: Laurie Perry, PRCI

Learning Outcomes/Benefits from Attending this Webinar:

Utilization of CP system testing data, coupled with out-of-service tank bottom scan data, for comprehensive evaluations of cathodic protection systems’ performance:  CP systems performed effectively for a majority of the tanks, but for   a large fraction, CP systems failed to adequately mitigate corrosion even while achieving AMPP (NACE) criteria for protection.

Evaluation of the various mass-loss based technologies to monitor corrosion of the tank bottom:  Mass-loss based coupons and electrical resistance (ER) probes placed a few inches below the tank bottom generally provide       comprehensive evaluation of the tank pad corrosivity.

Evaluation of Vapor Corrosion Inhibitors (VCIs) dispersion, and their performance under extreme conditions:  VCIs disperse fairly rapidly from the injection points, and VCI performance is not compromised under extreme conditions       provided VCI dosages are modulated in accordance with the field conditions.
