Join the PRCI Design, Materials & Construction Technical Committee as they present part three of a three-part webinar series related to composite systems for the repair of corrosion and mechanical damage.

Presenter:  Colton Sheets, Stress Engineering Services

Host:  Mason Kinter, Chevron

Moderator:  Thomas Marlow, PRCI

Learning outcomes/benefits of attending:
  • NDE technologies reported several anomalies located within the majority of composite repairs that were inspected, even those designated as exemplar, or control, repairs.
  • Cross-sectioning the repairs showed that the NDE technologies investigated were able to successfully locate defects including filler material porosity, porosity between filler material and laminate material, and delamination of the laminate from the pipe.
  • Despite the presence of many reported anomalies, acceptable performance was generally observed during the 10-year burst tests. This indicates that further work must be performed to quantify injurious anomalies for composite repairs and how those will be reported by inspection technologies
