PRCI WEBINAR: Fracture Toughness via In-Ditch Nondestructive Testing – Validation

Thu, December 03, 2020

Join the Integrity & Inspection Technical Committee as they present research to describe the NDTT fundamentals, impact of different test parameters, testing and measurement procedures.

Presenter: Steven Palkovic, Ph.D, Massachusetts Materials Technologies

Hosts:  Yohann Miglis, Kinder Morgan and Justin Crapps, ExxonMobil

Moderator: Zoe Shall, PRCI

Benefits of attending the Webinar:

  • This research program assessed the capabilities of the Nondestructive Toughness Tester (NDTT), a new approach for measuring the toughness of steel pipelines through a superficial frictional sliding test that is 0.01 to 0.02 inches (0.25 to 0.50 mm) deep.
  • The webinar will describe the NDTT fundamentals, impact of different test parameters, testing and measurement procedures, and data analysis performed to interpret the tensile fracture generated on the surface of the  sample.
