Join the PRCI Surveillance, Operations & Monitoring Technical Committee as they present research results related to the use of LiDAR and 3D geospatial analytics for geohazard assessment and management.

Dr. San Gunawardana, Enview, and Aaron Rezendez, PG&E, will discuss specific examples of how LiDAR and 3D geospatial analytics assisted PG&E’s damage prevention efforts when they deployed LiDAR analytics on their entire gas transmission network of approximately 7,000 miles.

During the session, the speakers will:
• briefly define LiDAR and 3D geospatial analytics
• present several real-life examples, including: identification of geohazards (e.g., landslides, soil erosion, river-bank erosion), 3rd party activities (e.g., excavation, construction, movement of earth, encroachments), and detection of pipeline markers.
• summarize lessons learned and recommendations of properly deploying LiDAR and 3D geospatial analytics that are unique to pipeline operations
